Laura Kane has successfully run her own civil litigation practice since 1987 with an emphasis in family law, personal injury, worker’s compensation, estate, probate and will drafting, and child custody appointments. Additionally, Ms. Kane is often appointed by the courts as a Best Interest Attorney.

Ms. Kane enjoys an active mediation practice, assisting parties in many different areas, including custody, child support, property issues and divorce matters. Ms. Kane often serves as a court-appointed mediator in the Montgomery County Custody/Access Mediation Program through the Montgomery County Circuit Court, Family Services Division.

As a mediatior, Ms. Kane is not acting as either party’s attorney, rather she is helping to facilitate a conversation where all parties are heard and the goal is to reach an amicable resolution for all parties.

As a parent coordinator , Ms. Kane’s role is to help parents identify issues unique to their family and to works towards better communication between the parties and problem solving that serves the best interests of the family.

In addition to her extensive professional work, Ms. Kane frequently serves her community wherever possible. Ms. Kane has served on the Board of Directors for the Jackson Place South Condominium Association as Secretary since 2012. Ms. Kane has been a volunteer attorney for Catholic Charities since 2001 and has been recognized by Catholic Charities for her outstanding efforts in Pro Bono Service. Additionally, Ms. Kane also volunteers as an attorney with the Family Law Self Help Center of Montgomery County.

    Ms. Kane received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from James Madison University in 1982 and her Juris Doctorate from Howard University in 1987.
